Let’s talk about it

By Jen (one of the Bossy Chicks)

Well Fluffy folks, it seems that we’ve been in kind of a rut here at Fight the Fluffy.  There hasn’t been a new post in almost two weeks and, in general, not a lot has been going on.

From this I can conclude that everyone’s either been super busy lately, everyone has hit their target weights, or everyone has lost interest.

I’m guilty of neglect too; I can’t even remember the last time I posted here.  And believe me, I certainly haven’t hit my target weight.

But that’s just me.  What about you?  Are you still interested in Fight the Fluffy?  Leave a comment and tell me honestly what you think.  Should we keep this going?  Thanks.

The administrator speaks up, again

By Jen, the Wicked Enforcer of the East

Last week, I reminded everyone of the basic rules of Fight the Fluffy:

  • Post at least once a month, if not twice or more. Don’t feel like you have to post just for the sake of doing so, but please let us know how you’re doing, share interesting news articles and recipes, and just generally keep the content going on this blog.
  • Comment. It’s not time consuming or difficult, so do it.

I also asked those of you who have not posted in the past month to please let us know how you’re doing. Also, please please please COMMENT.

Some of you stepped up to the plate and I thank you. Others of you have not, so I’m going to ask you again to please participate fully in the Fight the Fluffy. If you have a compelling reason for why you cannot, please email me offline and explain. If you simply want out of Fight the Fluffy, email me and I’ll remove you from the list on the right, no questions asked.

Thank you and have a nice weekend.

P.S. If you’re doing Fluffbusters, don’t forget to email the MomBabe tomorrow.

Because somebody has to be the bad guy

Just a reminder that Fight the Fluffy only works if EVERYONE participates. That means every single person listed on the right hand side of this screen. After y’all pretty much unanimously decided that you wanted to keep FtF going, we set two easy guidelines regarding posting and commenting. To remind you, they are:

  • I encourage you all to post at least once a month, if not twice or more. Don’t feel like you have to post just for the sake of doing so, but please let us know how you’re doing, share interesting news articles and recipes, and just generally keep the content going on this blog.
  • I also ask you to comment. It’s not time consuming or difficult, so do it.

So, I’m asking nicely for you to hold up your end of the bargain, please, pretty please. If you haven’t posted in the past month, please do in the next week or so.

(But don’t everyone do it all at once, let’s keep it to about three posts/day.)

And, if you haven’t been commenting, please stop lurking. Because I can see the stats and I know you’re out there.

Thank you, and have a nice day.

Administrative stuff

A note from Jen:

Yo Fluffy people! When you post, please remember to click on your name in the category list so that we know who’s posting. Even better, put a note at the top of your post to let us know who’s writing, so we don’t have to scroll down to the bottom first. I’ve gone in and added categories when they’re missing, but I’d really appreciate it if you could take of it when post.

Thank you!

Going forward with Fight the Fluffy

By Jen

Last week I asked y’all if you want to continue Fight the Fluffy or scrap it due to lack of interest. Your answer was loud and clear — let’s keep FtF going. I’m glad you think it’s a worthy cause.

I think we do need to set some parameters:

  • I encourage you all to post at least once a month, if not twice or more. Don’t feel like you have to post just for the sake of doing so, but please let us know how you’re doing, share interesting news articles and recipes, and just generally keep the content going on this blog.
  • I also ask you to comment. It’s not time consuming or difficult, so do it.

That’s it. Just two easy things.

Now some housekeeping matters. Several of you have expressed frustration about the early days of FtF when there were ten or more posts daily. I agree, the sheer volume was overwhelming. Let’s keep things a bit simpler and try to keep posts to no more than three per day. I said “TRY” and I understand that sometimes you might have a pressing issue that will need to be blogged about immediately, regardless of how many posts are already up in one day.

I could put together a schedule so that everyone posts on a certain day, but I find those to be constraining. What if I don’t feel like posting on a particular Tuesday but have something to say that Thursday? So let’s just sort of figure things out as we go along.

So, to reiterate:

  • post at least once a month
  • comment

Everyone agree?

The Future of Fight the Fluffy

By Jen

Have y’all noticed how quiet it’s been around here in recent weeks? Most of the people listed over there on the right haven’t posted in a while — weeks or even months. Comments are down down down. I’ve been keeping an eye on our stats and our readership is slowly and steadily declining.

From all of this I can make two conclusions: Either everyone has lost all the weight they want to OR people are losing interest in this blog. I’m thinking it’s the latter.

So, I’m going to put this out there for a debate and vote: What should we do with Fight the Fluffy? Keep it going or put it out of its misery? If it’s the former, then we need to see some renewed and sustained vigor. If it’s the latter, each one of us could write about our successes and failures on our own blogs and then everyone else could comment, cheer, and/or console.

So PLEASE leave a comment and let me know what you think. Let’s leave discussion open until next Friday. Lack of comments on y’all’s parts will be considered votes of disinterest.

Thanks for your participation. Enjoy your weekend.

Who, What, When, Where, Why…

By Sue

Hey there – thanks for stopping by! I am so super dorked out right now, I can’t even tell you. I’m bubbling over with excitement about having a place to obsess over my weight with everyone.

Why did I call it Fight the Fluffy? Way back when, pre-kids, pre-marriage, my best friend and I, who liked to imagine that we were absolutely hideously overweight, (we were both about a size eight, a size I would KILL to be right now) decided that we would no longer refer to ourselves as fat, only fluffy. After all, we were hot chicks, just – a little fluffier than we wanted to be. And now I’m extra fluffy. Super fluffy even. But fluffy can still be cute, and soft, and all things beautimous. It’s just – also fluffy.

Also, it’s easy to make duck/chick jokes, and it was the first thing I thought of, and I’m lazy.

So what are the rules? This is your blog. It’s not mine. A few of my fellow bloggers have oh so graciously agreed to serve as co-moderators – to both make sure things run smoothly and to keep things interesting.

But EVERYONE on the sidebar there? Is an important part of this group blog.

I hope you post, and post often. You don’t have to post on a specific day. You can post several times a week, or once. You can post whatever you’d like, but it should be related to weight loss or fitness or weight or body issues or – something like that – even if it is only tangenentially related. (Is that a word? I have no idea. Whatever word means sorta related? That’s what I mean.)

A very very very very very important part of participating here? (Somebody wanna take a guess what might be important to me? Anyone? Anyone?) Commenting. Please participate and comment as best you can. We’re doing this so that we can support each other, and the way people feel supported is by getting that feedback. I know you all know what I mean. This is for us. So that we can help each other work toward our goals, or work through them, or deal with our failures, or whatever it is. It’s for us. So comment, even if all you have to say is “I understand” or “hee hee.”

A few guidelines: Be sure to put a link to this blog on your blog’s homepage. When you post here, it’s a nice idea to mention and link your FTF post on your regular blog, although I’m not gonna enforce that.

If you are a blogger who wants to participate, but thinks we are crazy for starting right before Thanksgiving, join us when you are ready. Hopefully some of us will last that long :>

So you ready? Get your links on, and go for it!
